Thomas Dudley Launches the world’s first push button syphon

Thomas Dudley the UK’s leading innovator in plumbing solutions, proudly announces the launch of Quantum, its groundbreaking all new Pushbutton Operated Leak-Free Syphonic Toilet Flush Valve. This state-of-the-art product represents a significant leap forward in toilet flushing technology, offering unparalleled efficiency, reliability, and water conservation.

Quantum’s key Features:

Innovative Pushbutton Operation: Quantum is the first button operated mechanically activated syphon and comes equipped with a user-friendly pushbutton mechanism [available in various styles], providing a convenient and intuitive flushing experience. The modern design of the pushbuttons enhances user interaction while ensuring a reliable and consistent flush with every use.

Leak-Free Syphonic Technology: Designed and engineered in the UK with precision, Quantum incorporates advanced syphonic technology that lifts water with no power assistance in order to eliminate leaks and minimise water wastage. The leak-free design enhances the durability of the valve and contributes to water conservation efforts.

Water Conservation: Thomas Dudley is committed to sustainability, and the new Quantum Leak-Free Syphonic Toilet Flush Valve reflects that commitment. In the UK enough water is leaking from toilets in the UK to fill over 4 MILLION baths EVERY SINGLE DAY. By utilising the leak-free benefits of a syphon, coupled with the ease of the pushbutton mechanism of a flush valve, Quantum optimises water usage by eliminating leaks without compromising performance, Quantum helps users reduce their environmental footprint and lower water bills.

Easy Installation and Maintenance: Designed with installers and maintenance teams in mind, Quantum boasts a hassle-free installation process and requires a vastly reduced amount of maintenance compared to a standard flush valve. This ensures that both professionals and end-users can enjoy the benefits of this cutting-edge technology with ease.

Durable Construction: Crafted from high-quality materials, Quantum is built to withstand the rigors of daily use. Its robust construction ensures longevity, making it a reliable and cost-effective choice for residential and commercial applications.

Our ARIA Juliet System is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also meets all safety requirements. The Pure Vista Juliet system offers cost-effective and effortless installation. With ARIA, we aim to provide a balcony that makes you feel connected to the outside world. You can enjoy fresh air and maximize your views with no handrails or obstructions. In addition, the ARIA system allows for ample natural sunlight to stream into your home.

The system is suitable for glass lengths of up to 3000mm and a height of 1100mm. You can use this channel for fascia or side (reveal) fixing, and it is tested up to 0.74kN per meter fixing into concrete and steel. The Aluminium profiles are anodised to 25 microns, ensuring that it is protected against the elements. The glass is held securely in place with a solid aluminium block. The system is designed from high-quality materials to ensure durability and the high quality you would expect from Pure Vista.

Here are the top 5 reasons YOU WILL love ARIA!

  1. Light

If you’re looking to increase the amount of natural light in your room a Juliet balcony is the perfect solution! Using a full-length glass door, this balcony system maximises the amount of sunlight that enters your space without obstructing the view.

  1. Safety

Safety is our top priority. That’s why the solid glass panel is installed close to the wall, reducing the chance of small items falling through gaps. Not only that, but the system is also strong and secure, tested for safe domestic installations. Unlike others designs, the glass is held on a strong solid aluminium block.

  1. Increased Ventilation

With a Juliet Balcony installed, you’ll enjoy increased ventilation and fresh air flow into your home. Plus, the channel profiles used for this balcony system are thin and subtle, making it a perfect match for any property.

  1. Subtle in appearance

The channel profiles used for a Juliet balcony are thin in comparison to traditional glass balustrade. They will not be seen from inside the room and are subtle enough to suit any property from the outside.

  1. Cost

Best of all, the ARIA is much more cost-effective than traditional balconies. Supplied in one compact box and delivered to your door, this balcony system is also popular for its simple storage. In most cases, you won’t even need planning permission for a Juliet Balcony but please check with your local authority before work begins.

Ever heard of a floating home? No, well we’ve got a treat for you. Imagine an open plan living space, with large windows, pale floorboards, and views across a lake. Now look down and you are floating on top of the water’s surface. This is what it feels like to be living inside of one of the best sustainable solutions in the world – a floating home.

What is a Floating Home?

Floating homes or architecture is a relatively new concept and one that has hit the market running. A creation that started as a solution to address the rising population of residents in some countries has now become a thing of modern living and trending heavily in a lot of different regions around the world.

Architects have started to look past the conventional or traditional homes and adding living spaces away from cities, and have started building homes on top of the water, and why not? No different from houses built on land, you can decorate them however you please. They can be built in a luxurious style with marble flooring, eco-friendly furniture from exquisite Italian leather couches in the living room to a signature Penny Morrison slipper chair, solar panels and the lot.

This idea has had many benefits which we look at below.

Benefits of Floating Homes

One For The Nature Lovers: For nature lovers, it goes without saying that having one of these types of homes floating on water, offers you exquisite and magnificent views overlooking a lake or channel and sunsets to admire every evening on your wooden decking overlooking the landscapes. Sip your cocktail on a hammock or lounge chair while staring at blue skies, birds and trees all around you. No need to take a vacation when your dwelling is one. What more can you ask for? Plus the added benefit of not having to have an expensive swimming pool and jumping into the surrounding water in summer is priceless.

Personal Property: Some states consider having one of these types of properties as ‘personal property’ instead of a ‘real estate property’. Which means benefits on taxes for you. These may require an annual tax however it is usually a minimal amount. When considering building your one, seek advice from a professional regarding this, as it will depend on where you live.

An Ecosystem: Some urban areas that have incorporated this creative and useful idea into their landscape, have gone with the idea of it being an ecosystem, in mind. It serves as a means of sustainable living where all waste, energy and water lines are attached to several houses and connected with a jetty. This is part of the green living trend that has taken the world by storm.

What’s more, with these structures you can get to build your own personal style with a simple or modern interior design, or choose from a portfolio of different pre-made designs from several architecture firms’ portfolios to suit your budget and your personal preferences. investing in one of these can be a highly beneficial endeavour, as this is the direction the majority of the world is going once cities start to run out of space in the near future.

The client came to us with an almost definite idea of what he had in mind for his new multi-purpose garden office.  After one of our experienced sales advisors had discussed their requirements we were sure we could be of help.

We emailed our site information questionnaire to the customer; this includes a few select questions to ensure there will be no major issues with onsite installation. Once we had confirmed the site was good to go, all the information was passed onto our nationwide surveyor who organised a time and date to carry out the survey.

Once our surveyor had discussed the specification with the customer and conducted a full site survey of the site area, we were able to draw up a full quotation and a mock elevation plan of the proposed build.

The site area was open, rural and ideal for one of our larger garden offices.

Due to the floor area being over 30m2 the customer had to contact his local building control office to confirm our specifications were suitable. Once our build specifications and foundation specification had been approved we were ready to set the installation start date and process the clients order.

The client’s instruction was that the build must have a boot room entrance due to the muddy walk to the office, a WC area due to the distance from the main house and plenty of windows to capture natural light and the country side views.

This particular design had its challenges due to the huge expanse of glass and extra 0.5m height bringing the external height to 3m in total. The external design was completed with our beautiful Grade 2 Clear & Better Western Red Cedar, a combination of anthracite PVC-u windows and doors, canopies with LED down lights (18 in total) to 3 elevations and a large traditional timber deck area.

The internal specifications consisted of 15 Recessed LED down lights, 10 brushed metal double sockets, wiring for a water heater, 23 linier metres of partition walling, 2 internal timber doors, Ethernet cable points, V Groove oak effect laminate flooring, fully plastered walls and ceilings (this is a standard spec in all of our garden rooms) and solid timber skirting boards.

Whilst our installation team were onsite the client also requested that the team run cabling for surround sound speakers, internet, TV points, air con, extractor fan to the WC area, wiring to control the curtains along with 3 5mp sockets for extra lighting.

After two weeks of hard work from one of our experience installation teams the room was complete. The end result was a beautiful multi-purpose room, just as the customer envisioned.

Detailed Specification

  • 9m x 5m Double Corner Canopy Garden Office
  • 2 x Dark Grey PVC-u Double Patio Doors 1.5m x 2.05m

6 Secrets To Creating The Perfect Custom Wardrobes
Wyndham design director and founder Richard Thomas explains what to consider when creating your dream wardrobe space.

1 Styling And Colour

Although white may be considered by some as bland and unimaginative it dose make the perfect blank canvas for setting of the main feature of the wardrobe.

“the clothes” In fact not only will it set of the clothes it will also create the illusion of space in a room where space is often limited.

If you use this in combination with mirror then you are really opening things up.

If on the other hand you have the luxury of a larger space then dark woods or dark lacquer colours can inject mood and accents to the room, and coupled with cleaver lighting can also produce beautiful results.

2 Use Your Space

The most common error comes with trying to get too much into a defined space.

Less can be more and in the case of a walk in wardrobes it is often best to have a corridor run of wardrobes rather than return sections that may give dead spaces to the corners.

3 Doors

If you have wardrobes running in parallel right and left of you its important to consider the room required to open them fully on both sides.

If the corridor has a limited width then a sliding door option is often a more useful application.

Of course doors can be removed completely in a walk in wardrobe situation, but consider this can be high maintenance in terms of keeping things visually clean on the eye.

4 Accessories

Shoes, belts and jewellery can be set and displayed in a variety of ways Including bespoke shoe racks, drawers, or shelving. Consider these items as signature display items using particular shoes and jewellery as pieces of ‘art’ in there own right.

Look at ways to enhance presentation using bespoke drawer linings, custom made compartments and light panels.

5 Lighting And Ambience

The key to creating the overall mood of any walk in wardrobe or fitted wardrobe is lighting.

Consider ways to implement mood lighting on the interior as well as the exterior and use the same level of coloured lighting be it warm or cool white to maintain a consistency with the overall ambience.

6 Detailing

Think of you wardrobe as a blank canvas and like any great paining don’t overwork it, Small accents such as handles and application of mirror can be often all you need to create your masterpiece.

Remember to many materials and textures will start to conflict and as general rule simplicity is king. At Wyndham we try to keep it simple with only 2 to 3 different materials and finishes to produce a stunning design.

Keylex mechanical digital locks have been installed on the doors of the staff rooms and the first aid room at the new North Somerset Enterprise and Technology College campus, just completed by main contractor BAM Construction. The locks were supplied by Relcross via IRM of Yate, near Bristol.

The majority of doors at the new £12m complex are controlled by proximity cards issued to all students and staff but some areas are designated for separate control by mechanical digital locks. These are the four staff rooms plus the first aid room and similar Keylex locks are already fitted to all the other staff rooms and first aid rooms on the other college campuses. This provides a common access control solution for all of these areas giving immediate access for authorised users without the need for a proximity card.

The K700 lock that was specified is a standard duty, high security lock ideal for many hundreds of operations per day. It has an entirely mechanical operation with no electronics or electrical wiring involved. Code combinations from twelve buttons provide over 4,000 code permutations from the recommended three to six digit codes. The slipping clutch mechanism nullifies forced attack or vandalism from the outside and the stainless steel buttons will not indicate regular usage patterns. Free exit is allowed from the inside, without code entry, regardless of the lock status. The lock can also be set to allow free access from both sides when required.

Relcross Sales and Marketing Director, Stuart McMaster, said “while electronic access control can be very effective there are still circumstances where a mechanical digital lock is the best option. It’s a quick fix solution. No wiring is required, there are no batteries to replace, just solid mechanical reliability for which Keylex locks are renowned.”

North Somerset Enterprise and Technology College is a free school for 14-19 year olds and has a strong focus on science, technology, engineering and maths. The school opened in 2014 based at Weston College’s South West Skills Campus but has now moved to its brand new, purpose built home. The new £12m building is in Weston-super-Mare’s Junction 21 Enterprise Area and includes an all-weather sports pitch, canteen, lecture theatre, sports hall and technology and enterprise spaces, as well as a purpose-built science floor with laboratories and an outdoor terrace for experiments. NSETC is part of the Inspirational Futures Trust, which is sponsored by the Weston College Group.

Sometimes a spark of clarity will result in a “eureka” or “light bulb” moment and an idea will evolve into a unique product.

I don’t know how many people get such moments but it is certainly not uncommon as it is one of the things that makes us Human, our inventiveness!

Such was the case many years ago when the idea for the Unifold® hinge was born, only I called it my “beer mat” moment, because at the time I was bending a beer mat and you can probably guess where I was when I was doing it!

Since those early days of trials, tests, disappointments and triumphs, Unifold® has become a complete system and this has been achieved through an evolutionary process more by necessity than design, most often encountering a problem on site and returning to the factory and solving it in the workshop, employing fabrication techniques and whatever tests were necessary to prove the solution.

Most of the fabricated components which are vital to the Unifold® system were designed in the early years of product development and we had many “light bulb” moments in that process along the way, such as the patented Clip Joint used for di cult and narrow applications.

We learned the use of our hinge principle in so many ways to aid the fabrication process and to produce components which would be impossible any other way. From the outset this produced fabricated components t for purpose and of exemplary quality.

We also realised early on that site working inside a gutter cavity could often be very di cult and to expect site operatives to “cut and carve” and then e ectively seal a lining system was too much to ask, so our intention was and has been throughout for us to provide all fabrication, factory manufactured with simple gutter joints so the installation is constant and repetitive and as easy as we can make it.

We became a “single product company” concentrating on providing product and service excellence.

The system has proven to be entirely versatile with the ability to correctly line almost any existing system whether it is a level gutter or laid to falls.

Some of our fabricated components are corners, tees, side boxes, sumps and expansion joints and these are just a few! In fact there are solutions for any circumstances however di cult or complex.

For quite some time now we have insisted that anyone who installs Unifold must be trained to install the system. This is to ensure conformity and continuity of the system quality on site.

This supports our 25 year comprehensive guarantee that includes the installation as well as quality of materials and manufacture. An industry rst in gutter lining applications.

It is also without doubt that Unifold® is a technical product which the following photographs clearly demonstrate.

The message is clear, any lining system must be able to cope with whatever the site conditions dictate and if a 25 year guarantee is o ered then this must warranty that the system is going to work, without leaking, for that period of time and beyond.

Our quality and fabrication expertise means we are content with our promises.

The newly launched OpenPlanned.org website is a free source of inspiration, information, and expertise for everyone from homeowners to property developers who want to build open-plan homes.

  • Free website packed with relevant information about achieving open-plan layouts
  • Aimed at homeowners and landlords
  • Demystifies the regulations and what is allowable
  • Demonstrates great solutions with loads of illustrated case studies
  • Has a growing directory of suppliers
  • Includes handy filters to improve relevance
  • Registration is free for suppliers

Airy, spacious, free-flowing open-plan layouts are highly prized, lifting the spirit and adding thousands to the value of a home.

All too often, though, plans are thwarted by fire risk regulations or energy conservation requirements and their expensive, disruptive workarounds.

This is misguided. Most problems of open-plan layouts can be overcome with creativity and technical know-how.

Whether planning a loft conversion, a kitchen-diner, or a split-level knock-through ground floor, OpenPlanned.org demonstrates how.

Its illustrated case studies are packed with high-quality photographs of completed projects, helpful floor plans, and straightforward descriptions that follow the same easy-to-navigate template.

Even better, you can filter by property type, location, room type, size and budget, allowing you to see only those that match your needs.

No-nonsense articles and plain English guides explain the technical factors underpinning open-plan layouts and point you to useful third-party resources.

Finally, homeowners can search a database of suppliers that includes architects, builders, installers, surveyors, loft conversion specialists, approved building inspectors and many more by type and location.

OpenPlanned.org was conceived by Plumis. Passionate about confronting technical problems in the home with elegant solutions, and struck by the paucity of accessible information about open-plan layouts for homeowners and the way regulations were frustrating design ambition. OpenPlanned.org was born.

A new year always feels like a blank canvas, an opportunity to make some real changes to our lives. Whether you want to exercise more, take up a new hobby or even changing your career. There are always opportunity for improvement in our lives, from how we work and live. It’s always important to take care of yourself and to strive for happiness, and by making certain changes we get closer to reaching those goals.

Going green has become a popular resolution when it comes to how we live our day to day lives. By making small changes to the home, families and households can drastically reduce the impact they have on the environment. Here are some simple ways to help you go green in 2016.

Install Solar Panels

Solar technology has reached a quality that makes it a really viable source of energy with several benefits. For one, having solar panels installed frees you up from the prices put forward by other suppliers for electricity, helping you to save money whilst powering your home. It also doesn’t rely on finite fuels like coal, so it’s easily one of the most eco-friendly ways to provide your home with light and warmth.

Change the Lightbulbs

A simple but effective solution, changing the light bulbs to eco-friendly ones is one of the best ways to make your home a greener place. Eco-friendly bulbs are generally longer-lasting than standard bulbs and use much less electricity, so you can make huge savings on your energy bills and get more out of your lightbulbs.

Get Involved in Recycling

Recycling has become a standard practice across the country, but we can always do more to make sure that our waste is dealt with in an efficient and environmentally conscious fashion. As well as continuing to recycle your rubbish, you should consider recycling things like your furniture. For example, if you’ve taken part in a bed sale and need to get rid of your old one, you can recycle your bed with Bedstar. You can read the full details here.

Insulate Your Home

There are government initiatives to help you get your loft insulated, ensuring that your home is warm in the winter and cool in the summer and keeping the heat inside more effectively. Of course, there are other options for insulation, such as the walls and even the floors. This means that you will be less reliant on the central heating and when you do use it, it keeps your house warmer for longer.

Change Suppliers

Energy suppliers are changing their attitudes and are working towards being more eco-friendly, and if you do some research then you’ll soon find a much better deal than what you currently have. Cut down your bills while receiving a more efficient service and your house will soon be reducing its carbon footprint.

Control the Heat

Having more control over the way your home is heated is one of the best ways to reduce your energy consumption. By installing an adjustable thermostat in each room, you can change the temperature as you see fit. Reducing the temperature by even one degrees can help you to make significant savings whilst making your home a greener place.

The Sudstech patented porous paving system is capable of processing up to 50,000 litres of rain water, per meter per hour. Resin bound surfaces are traditionally installed on top of a sub base of either concrete or tarmac making them prone to clogging and damage from extremes in temperature such as freezing. Sudstech’s patented recycled rubber sub base is installed directly on to a prepared ground works of type 3 aggregate, followed by an attractive wearing top course of resin bound stone.

The rubber sub base benefits the system by adding flexibility, allowing particulates that would usually support weed growth to agitate through the surface when it’s trafficked by vehicle or foot. This movement restricts any particulates from settling and subsequently allows rainfall to wash the material clean.

Voids within the rubber slow the return of rain water, allowing it to percolate naturally back in to the water table, preventing flash flooding

In freezing conditions the sub base, allows expansion and contraction as water freezes and thaws within the material, without causing the problems of delamination where the two surface layers separate.

Sudstech does not require to be laid to falls, installation is low hazard and can be accomplished quickly with the new surface being usable after 24 hours. Sudstech carries a unique 10 year porosity guarantee

Tested at BRE and BREEAM credits are available.

The Airtec Glass system from Lithodecor combines the unique qualities of glass with the innovative technology of a ventilated rainscreen façade. The extremely resistant composite panels, which can be up to 32mm thick, consist of toughened safety glass bonded to a lightweight concrete carrier. The glass cladding can be used for striking effect as the panes of toughened safety glass are available in numerous attractive colours and can even carry customised printing.

Having passed all the necessary durability and fire protection tests, the Airtec Glass composite panels, up to 4.7m2 in size, are hooked onto the frame with an invisible clip design.

Airtec Glass was specified by Wilkinson Eyre Architects for the Earth Sciences Building at Oxford University creating a building facade that is not only striking in appearance but satisfies structural and architectural demands.

The lightweight glass cladding has also created a sophisticated and vibrant finish for a luxury apartment block, in West London, with the different coloured panels providing interest and impact.

In addition, sections of Airtec Glass and Airtec Natural Stone can be combined in the same plane, creating a seamless transition of glass and stone for the exterior façade of a building. Two projects where this has produced a distinguished and striking finish is at Farringdon Station and at The University of Potsdam in Germany.

The option to combine different finishes and materials is not available with classic systems. Whether transparent, tinted or enamelled, screen printed or plain – anything is possible!

Floorless Floors is a specialist supplier of high gloss laminate flooring. The major benefit of a shiny high-gloss laminate is that it really does add a ‘wow’ factor to any room with a stylish, luxurious and modern finish. With some colours you can even see a direct reflection of yourself, almost as if you are looking into water!

Most brands on the market that sell gloss laminate flooring, simply add a slight shine on the finish and pass this off as ‘Gloss Finish’. At best it is a dull shine that doesn’t look like anything spectacular.

The most commonly asked question is ‘Does the flooring scratch easily?’ Nobody wants a floor that is full of scrapes but you must remember that any surface of a gloss layer is going to be prone to abrasions. That said, if relevant precautions are taken such as using rubber pads for metal legged furniture, taking shoes off before walking on the laminate and not dropping sharp objects on the surface then the laminate will last for years to come. In fact, the floor does not require refinishing in the same way as hardwood and so is cheaper and easier to maintain, while at the same time being more economical. The shiny surface does not fade over time and is easily cleaned using a steam mop.

Plus, the floor is laid down easily using the simple glue-less Unilin click fit system.

Of the range of 8 colours that Floorless Floors supply, 3 colours really stand out.

1. Stripes – Ultra modern and contemporary. This is an amazing and must-have colour, which will create a guaranteed talking point in your home. Stripes add depth and dimension to a room while remaining completely versatile. Whether you desire an elegant and traditional style or a bold, fun, and fresh finish, the floor will complement any design scheme.

ff1

2. White – Really adds a luxurious and opulent dimension to any interior. Another advantage is its reflective quality, which as well as creating light, opens a room up making it feel much grander. Although it is very popular colour it can be difficult to find and expensive in any ranges where it is available.

ff2

3. Ivory – the unique grey colour provides a sophisticated finish with the aesthetic of classic wood in this season’s must have colour scheme. Grey tones offer a timeless choice, which can be easily incorporated into any design brief without competing for attention or clashing with other furnishings and patterns.

ff3

At a retail price starting from £12.50/sqm, no other brand even comes close to this price range. Typically in high street DIY stores the price of high gloss laminate starts at £25/m².

– Is this laminate flooring value for money? YES!

– Does this laminate flooring give a high quality finish? YES!

– Would this flooring be a talking point for visitors to your home? ABSOLUTELY!

Hochiki Europe is the leading manufacturer of innovative life safety solutions for commercial applications, including public sector, hospitality, healthcare and education environments. Its fire detection and emergency lighting products have acquired global acceptance as the benchmark for high-integrity and long-term reliability.

Fire safety solutions

Hochiki Europe offers two types of fire detection system; the ESP intelligent analogue addressable fire alarm system and the CDX conventional system, as well as a range of ancillary and test equipment.

The Enhanced System Protocol (ESP) is Hochiki Europe’s high integrity communications link to all products in the range, and incorporates a variety of high performance sensors, modules and ancillary devices to increase ease of routine maintenance and commissioning.

The CDX range covers one of the most extensive product portfolios, and provides solutions for most conventional fire detection applications, as well as security systems due to its wide voltage range (9.5 ~30 V dc).

Installing a Hochiki Europe fire safety system ensures an open protocol, delivering choice and flexibility, reduced cost of ownership, virtual elimination of false alarms and compliance to all required industry standards.

Emergency Lighting solutions

Hochiki Europe is also a recognised force in the emergency lighting sector for its FIREscape emergency lighting system. FIREscape is a unique, highly cost effective and environmentally friendly emergency lighting system that incorporates the latest in LED and battery technologies. Designed, manufactured and tested in the UK, the system is based around an emergency lighting control panel with battery back-up and features addressable, self-contained luminaires and signage interconnected via traditional extra low-voltage cabling.

FIREscape is simple to install, requires little maintenance or manual testing, and uses less than 5% energy consumption compared with conventional lighting. Even at its peak lumen output, the LED draws only 80% of the recommended maximum energy level which minimises energy consumption and maximises LED lifespan whilst still conforming to BS 5266. Further information can be found at www.hochikieurope.com/firescape

BIM Content

Hochiki Europe has become the first fire safety manufacturer in NBS National BIM Library, ahead of the Government’s 2016 Level 2 targets.

To aid designers, architects and contractors already working within the BIM framework, the company has invested in the creation of a new range of BIM content based on a selection of its core fire detection and emergency lighting products.

Using the design and supply of Hochiki Europe’s new technology, London’s University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH), one of the largest in the UK, is now operating its refurbishment program within a BIM framework.

Hochiki Europe’s new BIM range meets all BIM content standards and is available to download from the NBS National BIM Library (http://www.nationalbimlibrary.com/hochiki_europe_uk_ltd) and the Hochiki Europe website. For more information visit: http://www.hochikieurope.com/bim

CREATING ATMOSPHERE AND SPACE IN THE BEDROOM

It’s been decades since the bedroom has seen any major advances in bedroom furniture….until now that is. Levitas’ magical levitating bed is shaping the future of bedroom design by creating the ultimate ‘atmosphere and space’ by lifting the bed off the floor. This contemporary, elegant piece of furniture will transform the look of any bedroom and inject a sense of adventure and fun back into the bedroom.

HISTORY

Designer/Inventor Craig Phillips’ fascination with great magicians and illusionists such as Houdini and David Copperfield motivated him to join the Magic Circle at the young age of 12. It was this love of magic and illusions that inspired Craig to design and create the levitating EXO bed.

HOW IT WORKS

The secret to Levitas’ floating bed is the bit you don’t see – strong cantilever steel supports hold the bed off the ground. This allows the bed to float off any wall – even plasterboard walls. The steels have been designed for easy installation on any type of floor or wall. For the more adventurous, it is even possible to float the bed in the middle of the room without the need for a wall at all. The Super King EXO bed is guaranteed to hold 750kg or 1650lbs (that’s the weight of 10 adults).

CUSTOMISING YOUR OWN BED

Levitas’ versatile EXO bed is made from aluminium, which allows the user to customise their bed by adding various features such as LED lights, glass bedside tables, Bluetooth speakers and UV light for allergy sufferers. The Aluminium bed frame can be painted any colour, wrapped with various fabrics, printed vinyl using photographic quality images, carbon fibre, wood veneer and leather.

16 MILLION COLOURS TO CHOOSE FROM

The underside of the bed and bedside tables have built in low voltage LED lights that can be controlled via phone or tablet. With 16 million colours to choose from you are able to create the ultimate magical atmosphere in the room without leaving the comfort of your bed.

HOW TO INSTALL THE BED

Attaching the supports and assembling the bed is easy to do and should take an enthusiastic DIY person or carpenter a couple of hours. Hiding the supports (under the floorboards etc) takes a little more time but creates the best effect and is well worth the effort. If you would prefer us to do it then please contact us for a quote.

WHY ALUMINIUM

Aluminium is among the most environmentally friendly materials on earth as it is 100% recyclable, strong, durable, lightweight, corrosion resistant and hygienic. It lends itself well to bed frames as it can be extruded into intricate designs incorporating many detailed features and can have a variety of surface finishes (coatings, anodizing, polishing, etc). Levitas beds use 100% British recycled aluminium (3900 recycled cans per bed).

100% BRITISH MADE

Every part of the EXO bed is handmade at the manufacturing facilities in Kent. Half a mile (800 metres) of aluminium extrusion is held in stock so orders can be turned around in a matter of days rather that weeks. Bed frames can be tailor made to fit any size mattress with the most popular colours being matt white and matt black.
