Furniture Making in Birmingham: Alive & Kicking

It’s not very often that you hear of successful manufacturing businesses these days, but Rigg certainly fit this description.

Based in Kings Norton, Birmingham, Rigg makes all manner of stylish products for contract businesses and discerning private clients across the UK and abroad.

Style

An eclectic range of styles is on offer from Rigg including contemporary, vintage industrial and Scandinavian. The in-house range of designs includes materials such as steel, oak, zinc, copper, brass and high pressure laminates.

Rigg almost exclusively manufactures its products at its own factory in Birmingham.

Commercial and Domestic

Rigg supplies commercial-quality, heavy-duty furniture to large offices, restaurants and bars. The company has many relationships with furniture dealers and also directly with commercial clients.

The strong skill-set required for this market is also carried over to its domestic products.

A fantastic range of dining tables is on offer including substantial solid oak tops to fine hairpin leg desks with zinc tops.

Facilities

Complimenting the design studio, the Rigg factory in Kings Norton is comprehensively equipped with modern and traditional equipment for wood and metalworking.

A glass bonding function extends this capability for the building of pieces such as the beautiful range of Klarity coffee and dining tables.

People

Great people are at the heart of the business. Rigg prides itself on employing helpful, happy, skilled staff.

An introduction to a few of the people that you might speak to:

When calling you will most likely initially speak to Michelle at reception. A very helpful, caring member of staff who is always on hand to help, whether with an existing order or to discuss a new enquiry. If she can’t help directly she will point you to the correct department.

Peter has a long history in the glass furniture industry following masters-level degree design education. He will be able to help you choose from a vast array of furniture or help guide you through development of a bespoke item.

Colleague Kevin is also on hand to help with manufacturing and design queries. He is often found on the factory shop-floor ensuring production goes smoothly as well as innovating new processes.
