Future Proof Your Home with Broken Plan Living

The pandemic brought us hybrid working – with it came hybrid living – and the need, for many people, for some form of office space at home. If you’re looking to embrace broken plan living throughout your home in order to separate home life from work life, and to ensure a more positive work/life balance, or simply to give you options to zone off certain areas when required, pocket door systems can help you to future-proof your home and open up a world of possibilities that you never knew existed.

The Basics

Pocket doors slide into a cavity, or pocket in the wall. The door panel is top-hung from a track that allows the door to slide from side to side. ECLISSE systems are made from galvanised steel and aluminium. They have been comprehensively tested for reliability and robustness making them suitable for use anywhere in the home including the bathroom. ECLISSE offer pocket systems to suit all of the 10 standard UK door sizes, the three standard Irish standard door sizes, plus bespoke sizes. They can be used with your choice of timber doors as well as with a wide range of fully tempered frameless glass doors.

Space Benefits

Installing pocket doors can create up to 8% more usable space in a 100m2 layout. They can be installed where space is at a premium such as in apartments, or simply for improved aesthetics and seamless interior flow that provides unimpeded access. They offer a flexible solution where a traditional hinged door would otherwise limit access into a room and their functional, creative designs makes them an excellent choice for smaller rooms. Pocket doors can be closed for more intimate events, or opened up for parties. They offer more convenient connections between rooms such as the dining room and the kitchen, or bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms.

Maintenance Free, Fully Extractable Track

The ECLISSE sliding pocket door system is maintenance free. However, should it be damaged, the track, runners and brushes are fully and easily extractable. Access to the track is a simple process of removing the architrave and top jamb, which means that there is no need to break into the wall or remove plaster, which would require reinstatement later.

Retrofitting Accessories

This also allows for easy retrofitting of accessories such as the BIAS (Soft-Close with Built-In Anti-Slam) system, the Touch Latch, or self-closing systems. Therefore, there is no need to decide upon every accessory at the time of purchase, or point of initial installation, as they can be added later should the homeowner realise that they need them, or should their circumstances change.

Warranty

Whether the project is a self-build, a renovation or an extension, ECLISSE’s 15-year warranty on its sliding door systems, including the runners, provides peace of mind. The runners have successfully undergone testing (European test UNI EN 1527) of over 100,000 opening and closing cycles – equal to around 25 years of normal use – and still operated perfectly without defect. They are designed for maximum smoothness and fluid sliding movement of the door. The pocket frame has also been successfully subjected to dynamic impact testing (European test UNI EN 629:2000) passing without deformation.

UK Based, Expert Support

ECLISSE offers UK-based customer support for purchasing and aftersales, plus technical and installation advice through our friendly Customer Services team of product specialists based in Grantham, Lincolnshire. See the website for full details on technical specifications and step-by-step videos of assembly and installation.

ECLISSE sliding pocket door systems are a great option for anyone who wants to future-proof their home with the added benefits of stunning interior design, increased usable space and improved flow. Sliding pocket door systems can be incorporated into any home to create broken plan living and working-from-home options.
