J. Rotherham’s Aurelius Fireplace surround Wins ‘Fireplace in Stone of the Year’, Hearth & Home Exhibition Award

J.Rotherham, one of the oldest and most respected stone masonry companies in the United Kingdom, is thrilled to announce The Aurelius scooped the 2015 Hearth & Home Exhibition ‘Fireplace in Stone of the Year’ Award. A stylish addition to J. Rotherham’s new Contemporary Collection, The Aurelius fire surround is a worthy winner.

Combining old and new, The Aurelius is manufactured using cutting-edge materials and the latest state of the art machinery at J. Rotherham’s very own 17 acre site in East Yorkshire.

An art-deco derived design, The Aurelius combines the complementary nature of Neolith sintered stone and British Portland limestone through its winged design and matching plinth. Designed with integrated LED lighting, The Aurelius surround is framed by two translucent Corian® pillars which illuminate through a Romanesque motif casing. Additional LED’s light up the scotia moulding on the limestone plinth, again defining intricate details and finish of material through subtle lighting options.

J.Rotherham’s Aurelius is made in Britain, designed by Jamie Rotherham and expertly hand finished using British Portland limestone, Iron Grey Neolith Sintered Stone and Ice White Corian®.

Neolith is an extremely innovative material and compliments J. Rotherham’s new Contemporary Collection of fireplaces perfectly. This man-made designer stone that breaks new ground in interior design, offers limitless possibilities for the home. What’s more, it’s sustainably manufactured with sensitivity to the environment, making it ideal for those who are conscious of their environmental footprint. It can withstand the heat of any type of fire and is totally scratch resistant.

J.Rotherham’s Portland limestone is quarried from the Isle of Portland in Dorset and has a worldwide reputation as one of the most prestigious building materials available.

Matt Rotherham, Commercial Director, of J. Rotherham explains “We are thrilled to have won the ‘Fireplace in Stone of the Year’ Award’; it is the best possible launch we could have, for our all new Contemporary Collection. It is a truly innovative and technologically advanced range of fire surrounds and more importantly, it shows British design and manufacturing in this industry is once again leading the way.”

With the largest production facilities of any manufacturer in the UK, J. Rotherham maintain over five thousand slabs of stock, held on site to allow exceptionally fast turnaround, across a wide range of popular materials. All of J. Rotherham’s new and existing fireplace products are:
