Stylish, Practical, Inspirational

The very latest in fire retardant fabrics and wallcoverings for hospitality, leisure and care home sectors has been unveiled by iLiv Contract Fabrics. iLiv is pushing the boundaries and bringing inspirational, co-ordinated ideas to interior design, with its new Expression collection.

Composed of striking painted abstract prints, geometric wovens and a luxurious velvet, it is a collection of contemporary inherently flame retardant fabrics.

The dramatic colouring of the 24-strong collection includes noir, putty, midnight, aubergine and pewter including modern brush strike stripes, graphic textured geometrics and brush-stroke florals in six colour stories.

The concept was to create a dynamic, inspirational range, offering hotels, guest houses, restaurants, care homes and even healthcare environments a stylish alternative to current options in the market.

CEO of SMD Group’s iLiv brand, Jason Kenworthy, said: “Our latest collection brings the same fresh designs to leisure and healthcare spaces as we do to the home market, but without compromising the practical aspect.

“All of our fabrics are fire retardant, hard-wearing and add a new dimension in terms of flair and design.”

The Expression collection had a worldwide showcase launch at the major Heimtextil exhibition in Frankfurt in January, where it was welcomed for its dual features of style and practicality.

In high risk environments where large numbers of people are moving about it is vital that in the event of a real fire, retardancy of materials will slow the spread of fire to enable a safe evacuation.

As one of the early pioneers of flame retardancy, all SMD products are inherent and permanent to the fabric itself and are not limited to the yarn.

With a printing facility onsite to meet urgent deadlines, SMD’s activities provide comprehensive manufacturing facilities, supported by a 10-strong in-house design and sourcing team using the very latest market trends. All aspects of production including spinning, finishing and stock support are also available.
