TIMBER EXPO ADDS METSÄ WOOD TO ITS MONTAGE

Metsä Wood, the UK’s leading supplier of timber materials for the construction industry, is the latest confirmed exhibitor at Timber Expo, part of UK Construction Week.

The show, which runs 6 – 8 October at the NEC, is the seminal date in the timber industry’s calendar and promises to provide a real forum for manufacturers, specifiers and contractors to discuss the most pressing issues currently facing the sector.

With a deep heritage in UK construction, supplying innovative timber solutions that draw their influence from the company’s global presence for many years, Metsä Wood is an industry heavyweight making a notable presence at Timber Expo.

Drawing its market strength from a truly integrated supply chain, Metsä Wood delivers premium quality timber products and systems that are sustainable, traceable and fully certified.  It works with its partners through a national network of builders’ merchants, providing engineered timber systems using Glulam and Kerto, sheet materials, exterior and interior cladding solutions, profiles for interior fit out, sawn joinery, decking and scaffold boards.

Kevin Riley, Sales Director from Metsä Wood emphasises the importance of supply chain partnerships in the realisation of timber buildings: “Our aim is to be the very best timber partner for customers who aspire to create inherently sustainable buildings through the use of timber systems.

“It is not just the beauty and aesthetics of wood, or the advanced performance of state of the art engineered timber technology that we prize in construction, it is the almost endless possibilities wood brings to the fore through a 100% traceable supply chain combined with a seamless relationship with our distribution channels.  Having the opportunity to meet with our partners and customers face to face at an event like Timber Expo is absolutely vital to maintaining this closely integrated relationship.”

Metsä Wood is the latest organisation to join the exciting agenda at Timber Expo and will be giving a practical Toolbox Talk on Spanning the Distance in Engineered Wood Products. In particular, Metsä Wood’s Head of Technical, Engineering and Design Frank Werling, will discuss how the introduction of EWP BIM objects can help facilitate the specification of timber as a viable alternative to steel.

In addition to Metsä Wood’s contribution the Timber Focus Seminars – coordinated by TRADA – will tackle the most pressing industry issues. From the context of timber in construction with a discussion on how to increase the specification of timber systems, to the real possibilities wood enables and more sector-specific forums such as how to increase the use of timber within the self build sector, the programme is designed to provoke meaningful debate.

There are more reasons to visit Timber Expo; the timber industry’s leading awards, the annual Wood Awards come to the fore here as well. This year the designers and judges will present the shortlist for 2015 with a discussion on how to win a coveted award. Wood in Architecture has its place here too. Complementing the Wood Awards, Wood Architecture will include a panel discussion considering the most interesting developments in timber across the world.

Nathan Garnett, Show Director for UK Construction Week, said: “Timber Expo provides those in the timber industry with a vital opportunity – all the manufacturers, suppliers, specifiers, contractors and distributors coming together over the course of the event. Designed to promote networking and information exchange, we see Timber Expo as the pinnacle event in the industry’s schedule. As such we are delighted to welcome Metsä Wood as an exhibitor to the show. No dedicated industry event would be complete without it and the important contribution this organisation has made to the specification of sustainably sourced timber in the UK.”

Bringing together nine shows under one roof, UK Construction Week will be the biggest construction trade event the UK has seen in years.  Taking place at the Birmingham NEC from 6 – 11 October (with the trade only days from 6 – 8 October) the event will unite 1,000 exhibitors with an expected audience of 55,000 visitors.

Visitors will be able to attend Grand Designs Live, the Build Show (incorporating Civils Expo), Timber Expo, the Surface and Materials Show, Energy 2015, Kitchens & Bathrooms Live, Plant & Machinery Live, HVAC 2015 and Smart Buildings 2015.
