Top Things to Consider for Solar Panel Installation

Households and business enterprises need to understand that solar energy is the way to move forward. With several policies initiated to support its integration, what better way to future-proof your homes and companies than to invest in solar energy now? However, we know that you need to consider many factors when shifting from one energy source to another. It’s not easy to do, and you need to prepare certain things to ensure that you’re ready.

There are several reasons why solar energy is better than electric energy, and you can browse other pertinent information at www.atlanticrenewables.co.uk. The site will provide you with the necessary data to make an informed decision regarding the shift to solar energy. In this article, we’ll explore how you can easily install solar panels for your homes, offices and businesses.

Solar energy system requirements

If you wish to turn to solar energy, you will have to purchase solar panels, a mounting system, and an inverter with a computerised controller to create a network for your location. If you wish to store excess energy, you will also have to buy a battery. The solar panels connect to the inverter, and the inverter converts the collected solar energy into AC so you can use it for your household, office or business.

The best location for your solar panels is on your roof for maximum solar exposure. However, if you have a wide patch of land that receives a good amount of sunlight throughout the year, that is also an alternative and viable option.

Secure access via scaffolding

If you’re installing your system to the roof, you need to build a secure scaffold for access to the rooftop. Make sure that there wouldn’t be any obstructions that may cause an accident.

Install the solar panel mounts

The next step would be to set up the solar panel mounting system. You have to tilt the mounts to an angle between 18 and 36 degrees for better sunlight exposure.

Install solar panels

Stabilise the solar panels on the mounts. You have to affix the bolts and nuts properly, so the structure remains as stable and secure as possible.

Wire the network

The next step you have to complete would be the electrical wiring for the solar panel modules. You can run the wirings down where you installed your inverter. Remember that your inverter should stay in a place that’s cool enough year-round to avoid any problems. Finally, connect the solar panel wirings to your inverter.

Install and connect the battery

Once the inverter’s wired, you can now connect it to the batteries. The more batteries you have, the better because you can store more energy for later consumption.

Connect to the consumer unit and start your solar panels

You’ll need to connect the inverter to the consumer unit so you can generate electricity. Switch the system on and test if it works.

Final takeaways

People think installing solar panels is difficult. It may be labour-intensive, but it is a relatively simple task. However, if you’re not confident in your abilities, you can always ask a professional to help out.
