The design required individual tread patterns forming as the stairs tapered from the bottom tread and reduced by 200mm as it reached the landing to enable the staircase to fit onto the gallery. The treads were manufactured from steel then encapsulated in European Oak leaving a 10mm shadow gap where they attached to the stringer.
