Forticrete, an Ibstock brand, is meeting the increasing demands of the housebuilding market with its innovative large format, thin leading edge roof tile, SL8.<\/p>\n

Combining the visual aesthetic that replicates real slate with technical features of an interlocking tile, SL8 provides both superior coverage and a better-looking roof. The tile offers excellent coverage requiring just eight tiles per m\u00b2, which is a 20% reduction when compared with other large format roof tiles within the industry, meaning its quicker to install.<\/p>\n

The innovative roof tile has an enhanced design with a wider format, making it popular for UK house builders and its competitive pricing means house builders can now achieve thin leading edge aesthetics at installed costs comparable to the traditional larger format roof tiles.<\/p>\n

SL8 has been granted patents to cover the camber of the tile, interlocking features and dry verge design meaning there is no other tile like it in the marketplace.<\/p>\n

Lewis Turnbull, Technical Manager for Forticrete, commented: \u201cWe\u2019ve created SL8 as we saw a need in the market for a thinner edge tile, that is up to 50% thinner than large format varieties.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe used our design and manufacturing technology to create a roof tile that is easy to install, fit-for-purpose and aesthetically pleasing. We have had positive feedback from both roofing contractors already installing SL8 and clients alike.\u201d<\/p>\n

The easy-to-lay design of the tile includes two nail holes, which provides roofing contractors with better fixing flexibility. In addition to the innovative SL8 dry verge system there is also a full range of maintenance free, mechanically fixed accessories available and technical support, including full fixing specifications.<\/p>\n

Lewis added: \u201cSaving time and money is key for house builders, and so it was essential for us to create a roof tile that would assist them to maximise working time. Available in four colours: Red, Sunrise Blend, Brown and Slate Grey, SL8 tiles are factory blended to ensure fewer colour batching variations.
