GEZE UK is relaunching its popular CPD seminar entitled Removing Barriers to Access.

Approved by RIBA, the seminar offers chartered architects invaluable advice for the use and specification of door control devices so that doors do not become obstacles. It has been completely rewritten to incorporate all the recent changes in legislation.

Those taking part in the seminar will receive guidance on all the relevant standards and regulations that apply to manual and automatic doors in relation to accessibility. These include EN 1154, EN 1155, EN 1634, BS 8300, Approved Doc M, CE marking and Declaration of Performance.

It examines manual closers and automatic doors in turn, the reasons we use door controls, the different types and the benefits of each of them. The seminar looks at two manual closing devices in particular – self closing and electro hold open, as both assist with accessibility issues but maintain their integrity as a fire door in the event of a fire. It also looks at situations where automatic doors are particularly suitable and the different types available.

Managing director Kaz Spiewakowski said: “In a world where standards and legislation change extremely quickly, it is essential that architects keep themselves up to date.

“This revised seminar is designed to assist architects who are specifying door control devices and should help them understand the current legislation, as well as which door control devices are suitable in which situations.
