Notts Sport, the world\u2019s leading supplier of synthetic cricket surfacing systems, has recently resurfaced Leicestershire County Cricket Club\u2019s indoor training facilities to provide a bespoke solution that\u2019s been a winner with players and coaches alike.<\/p>\n
The work has seen the three-lane practice area in the Mike Turner Cricket Centre at Grace Road transformed, with the former synthetic carpet \u2013 which had been laid over concrete \u2013 removed and replaced with NottsTurf Indoor top surface installed over NottsPad Indoor shockpad base for enhanced performance.<\/p>\n
The Notts Sport facility provides a much more consistent and realistic performance in terms of bounce and pace \u2013 that\u2019s according to those who\u2019ve used it, from youngsters through to the pros.<\/p>\n
Lewis Hill, Leicestershire wicketkeeper and batsman, says: \u201cIt\u2019s been fantastic. It is key for us as professional sportsmen to practise on a quality wicket and this is certainly a quality facility to use.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s definitely more realistic, the bounce is consistent and there\u2019s a bit of spin for spinners which keeps them interested. It\u2019s just a great practice facility to use. It goes very close to an outdoor wicket which is what you want.\u201d<\/p>\n
Keith Piper, elite development coach, adds: \u201cIt makes batting, bowling and fielding a lot easier. The previous surface was quite uneven and players didn\u2019t want to bat in here, but with this new surface from Notts Sport everyone wants to now! The shockpad underneath makes it so much more realistic in terms of bounce and pace.\u201d<\/p>\n
Leicestershire\u2019s chief executive Wasim Khan says: \u201cIntroducing cutting-edge training facilities like this is an important part of our club\u2019s ethos. Providing players with a more authentic surface to practise on gives them a huge boost, whether they\u2019re established first-team professionals or youth players developing their skills.\u201d<\/p>\n
The facility is also popular with children, who use the centre during weekends.<\/p>\n
Indoor school manager Dips Patel says: \u201cIt\u2019s been brilliant. At the weekend we have over 100 kids coming in the centre each day. The surface has been great. They\u2019ve really enjoyed it.\u201d<\/p>\n
As well as installing the new practice facility at Leicestershire CCC, Notts Sport is also sponsoring club captain Mark Cosgrove and has joined the 1879 Club to provide further support.<\/p>\n
