Dunn Architects is an RIBA Award-winning practice of creative and accomplished architects, technicians and designers with offices in London and Sussex for projects in the UK, and offices in Dubai and Singapore for overseas projects. The diversity of projects to date ranges in scale and scope from bespoke private houses to multi-million pound commercial developments in the Middle and Far East.<\/p>\n
The practice has established itself with a solid reputation for the ability to design, deliver and manage entire projects efficiently and reliably.<\/p>\n
Understanding the history, context, topography and ecology of a site is at the root of our design process. We foster a collaborative approach with clients, consultant teams, contractors and end-users as well as maintaining regular internal design reviews. Individual teams at the practice are selected based on compatibility for each client and project. A series of creative hubs are formed to work on individual projects within the practice.<\/p>\n
As designers we aim to create contemporary, subtle and elegant buildings using materials and geometry that complement the local human and natural environment, with commitment to creative excellence and sustainably-driven innovation to interpret and deliver the requirements of private clients.<\/p>\n
Lakeside House, West Sussex <\/u><\/p>\n
This stunning house of 5,000 ft2 is set in a landscaped garden within the grounds of a racehorse stud farm. The house is curved in plan to respond to the topography of the site, with views on to the surrounding paddocks and lake.<\/p>\n
The structure of the chimney and main balconies punctuate the massing of the building and the ground floor is inset to help articulate the curve and the use of different materials.\u00a0 The first floor is clad in Kebony timber to reference the buildings natural environment and the standing seam zinc roof helps to emphasise the curved from of the roof.\u00a0 A series of interlinked terraces extend into decks over the lakeside, offering indoor\u2013outdoor living spaces and drawing the occupants\u2019 eyes into the surrounding landscape.<\/p>\n
On the ground floor the living space is open-plan with large glass panels, corner windows and sliding doors. \u00a0The plan is designed so that the central fire place is a focal point of the communal areas in the house.\u00a0 The interior fit\u2013out has been designed by Dunn Architects with emphasis on clean, contemporary finishes and design.\u00a0 A feature stair leads to the first floor which contains four bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, each of which is orientated towards different aspects of the landscape.<\/p>\n
The project was delivered with a twelve-month construction period.<\/p>\n
