ALUCOBOND® design – Expanding Design Freedom

ALUCOBOND® design, from 3A Composites GmbH, has widely been recognised as offering one of the most comprehensive ranges of surface finishes in the cladding sector. When applied to the company’s portfolio of ALUCOBOND® composite panels, including ALUCOBOND® A2, the company’s highest fire-rated composite panel, it is fully compliant with the latest fire regulations and offers architects almost unlimited creative freedom with the very best fire protection.

Specifically, ALUCOBOND® design presents architects with the ability to place a near infinite variety of designs, colours and textures onto the surface of its ALUCOBOND® composite panels, and with modern building design as much about visual impact as it is about structural design, new possibilities for creativity can be explored.

ALUCOBOND® design is a stunning range of surface finishes, applied using a precision high-quality varnishing process that has been developed by 3A Composites. It has been developed specifically for use on ALUCOBOND® composite aluminium panels, making it possible to achieve individual décors with enormous depth and visual impact. The process can also be applied to relatively small quantities, allowing individual construction features, such as atriums, balconies and entrances to be accentuated, as well as entire building façades. ALUCOBOND® design is also durable, having no impact on the performance of the panel, with it retaining its finish through the lifecycle of the building. Additionally, ALUCOBOND® composite panel’s proven deformation behaviour, such as folding and round bending, is also not restricted as a result of the application of the surface finish, which means design possibilities are unrestricted as a result of the application for the finish. The finishes can also be used indoors and out.

A number of new surfaces have been added to ALUCOBOND® design further expanding the ability to create a truly individual bespoke finish, where textures, colours, hues and 3D effects can be brought to life to create a building that can express its character and personality in all manner of unique and innovative ways. Of course, it is also possible to choose from many of ALUCOBOND® design’s existing décor collection, and the choice is equally as vast as the imagination. Architects can choose from finishes that include metal, wood and concrete styles and each of these is available in a variety of subtle textures to widen choice even further.

To assist the visualisation and creative process of designing a finish ALUCOBOND® recently launched ALUCOBOND® Designmaker. This innovative and inspirational on-line design tool allows the user the ability to apply different design graphics to a proposed building envelope and adapt them individually in size and colour until the desired ‘look’ is achieved. When chosen the façade visual can then be requested as a PDF file via the on-line contact form and it is also possible to generate direct transfer of the CAD data for use in CAD software packages. The ability to conceptualise the many ALUCOBOND® design finishes, assessing how different colours, textures and style work together, is a valuable creative tool and a facilitator of architectural expression.
