Create the perfect ‘outdoor living’ space with Brazilian slate

It may only be January but in an effort to banish those ‘winter blues’ many of us are already starting to think about spring and those evenings of being able to entertain outside. 2014 saw a continuing trend for properties embracing open plan living and looking for ways to bring their outdoor and indoor spaces together seamlessly through design features such as bi-fold doors, natural stone paving and lots and lots of glass.

The trend of ‘outdoor living’ has been a hot topic in the gardening and interior design world for some time. This concept of taking elements from your home and bringing them outside has become even easier with the emergence of slate pavers being used to create a versatile extension of our indoor spaces.

Using natural stone as a flooring choice and particularly Brazilian slate is a fantastic decision as this is a versatile, durable and stylish stone and at Mrs Stone Store we specialise in high quality Brazilian slate and limestone to help you create your vision.

We always tell our customers that choosing your outdoor flooring is hugely important; just as you would choose interior furnishings to complement each other you must bear in mind that the outdoor paving you choose should work with your overall vision. Your patio needs to be functional and aesthetically pleasing and this is why natural slate makes a great choice, the beautiful tonal colours of blacks, dark greys, light greys and blues create a stunning array of colours. Add in the fact that many of our slate pavers come in a variety of thicknesses and size you can use this to make small gardens look bigger and create focal points such as water features and slate benches.

Tough and hard wearing slate is always a popular choice for those looking to revamp and outdoor space and works just as well in a contemporary setting as they do in a cottage style garden or urban living space.

All of our slate is freeze thaw tested to deal with our winters and comes with CE data and is suitable for use indoors and outdoors.

For many homes our gardens now give us an extra room, perfect for cooking, eating, relaxing and entertaining. Think balmy evenings, wafts of sizzling supper, soft sofas, crackling fires and warm ambient lighting – that’s outdoor living at its best which is enhanced by using high quality natural stone paving such as Brazilian slate.
