Imperial Bricks, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of the finest traditional handmade, wirecut and pressed bricks, provided the perfect solution for the restoration of the Grade II listed Fair Mile in rural Oxfordshire.

Fair Mile is an award-winning landmark redevelopment of a former hospital site, on which the striking Grade II listed Victorian buildings have been transformed into spacious, energy efficient family homes.

A fine example of impressive Victorian architecture, Fair Mile boasts feature gables, brick detailing, stone sills and mullions and sash windows, which were all sensitively renovated by developer Thomas Homes to create a mixture of apartments and houses.

Working sympathetically to accommodate the requirements of Fair Mile’s Grade II listing, the developer chose Imperial Bricks’ 68mm soft red bricks, which offered a perfect match to the existing buildings for size, colour and texture. The bricks were were utilised to enable repairs and alterations to blend in seamlessly with the impressive Victorian facades.

Imperial Bricks specialise in producing a growing range in imperial and metric sizes, with a strong focus on regional variations to suit all areas of the UK.

Using time-honoured manufacturing methods, their skilled brickmakers expertly reproduce authentic colours and textures, making their bricks perfect for the restoration, renovation and conservation of period properties, whilst offering an authentic look for new build projects.

The full product range incorporates bricks, brick slips, pavers and special shapes.

The experienced team at Imperial Bricks can offer a highly personalised service to assist architects, designers, developers and self builders with selecting the right product for each project by providing a brick matching service and specialist advice, bespoke colour blending and weathering using special processes to achieve the perfect match.

Their range of new, high quality bricks are fully frost-resistant and most are available with a reclamation finish to mirror the aesthetics of genuine reclaims, making them the perfect solution for the restoration or extension of period properties, as well as new builds.
