Introducing F.H. Brundle’s aluminium decking range

Michael Brundle, Managing Director at F.H. Brundle, discusses the company’s outstanding aluminium decking system, Synergised. Think decking, and you probably think timber. But timber, as classically attractive and readily available as it is, has problems, as everyone in our sector is well aware. It will rot, it can twist and warp, and can require a great deal of maintenance to keep looking and performing its best. Which, in recent years, has led to the development of a wide range of alternatives.

Introducing Synergised

Why aluminium? Because it’s one of the most consistently excellent materials in modern construction. It’s strong, lightweight, highly recyclable, durable, and resistant to corrosion and other forms of wear. With Synergised, our intention was to harness those great qualities to produce aluminium decking that excelled in several key respects.

We wanted a product that looked good – delivering the sleek aluminium aesthetics so sought-after by homeowners and developers alike. We wanted one that was tough and long-lasting, offering excellent value for money – and we wanted one that performed to high standards when it came to safety and fire performance.

The result, made from structural-grade 6063 T6 aluminium, is one of the finest products of its kind on the market.

Synergised Original

Our Synergised Original boards are quick and easy to install, offer a 50% cost saving when compared to similar systems, and come with a life expectancy of over 25 years.

Its highly slip-resistant surface is comfortable underfoot, and stays cool in hot weather, making it perfect for garden applications – while the fact it’s A1 and A2fl-s1 fire-rated at heights of 18m for commercial buildings and 11m for residential make it ideal for high-rise settings.

It’s also tested to EN 13501, EN 13823 and EN ISO 1716, and comes in three colours – anthracite, black and Serengeti sand.

Synergised Connected

Building on the success of the Synergised Original collection, we are delighted to introduce our latest addition to the range, Synergised Connected.

Synergised Connected’s unique interlocking boards fit seamlessly together – there are no gaps.

The product has also just passed a series of rigorous anti-slip testing, demonstrating its suitability for a wide range of domestic and commercial settings. It is also A2fl-s1 fire-rated, making it ideal for decking and raised patio applications.

The system offers excellent weather performance thanks to its integrated drainage channels, which direct rainwater away from under the deck.

What’s more, boards fit neatly and quickly to the substructure, with fixings hidden from view by the next adjoining board, allowing for efficient installation and a tidy finish.

It’s a fantastic addition that makes one of the leading timber-alternative decking systems even better.

Both the Connected and Original boards are compatible with our mill finish subframe, which is available in 3 joist height profiles, 20mm, 70mm and 120mm, with the 20mm option ideal for ultra-low profile applications. It’s lightweight and easy to cut making it extremely quick to assemble and fit.

The adjustable cradles make for a very simple install, too – with height adjustment ranging from 45mm to 180mm, which, combined with our joist profiles, will deliver decking at the exact angle required.
