MORE PEACE-OF-MIND FOR STEADMANS CUSTOMERS AS PRODUCTS ACHIEVE CE MARK

Customers of leading building products manufacturer Steadmans have further reassurance about the company’s output after its cladding profiles and panels met the requirements for CE marking.

The accreditation – applying to Steadmans’ single skin cladding profile range, which features six differing profiles to suit every application, plus its AS 35 composite panels – testifies to their properties and performance, confirming they have been manufactured, tested and assessed to European standards.

Construction products covered by a harmonised technical specification, either a harmonised European Standard or a European Technical Assessment, have had to be CE marked since July 1. This is required by the Construction Products Regulation, which has become European law and adopted by all member states.

Alan Scupham, technical manager, Steadmans, said: “Our single skin and composite systems offer rapid coverage and swift completion of weatherproof building envelopes.

“Our systems already produce high-performance construction solutions and we’ve now undertaken a rigorous process to ensure they fully comply with CE marking requirements too. We welcome the introduction of CE marking, which should ensure manufacturers not only design buildings to the required quality but have factory production control systems meeting European standards. However, it’s felt within the industry that achieving this standard will be a challenge of significant proportions for some manufacturers within the sector.”

Steadmans’ single skin roof and wall systems are manufactured from premium coated steel to create durable and functional trapezoidal and corrugated section roof and wall sheeting, in three standard thicknesses and six profiles, to suit a wide variety of uses. The sheets are hot-dip galvanised or Aluzinc coated to BS EN 10346:2009.

The company’s AS35 insulated panels consist of two coated steel profiles bonded to a core of PIR insulation. The panels are manufactured using non-ozone depleting insulation, providing designers with an environmentally responsible product boasting excellent thermal performance and a predicted service life of 40 years. The insulated panels are available in thicknesses ranging from 40mm to 120mm.

Steadmans’ AS35 panels can be specified to achieve insulation U-values to aid compliance with the latest L2 regulations and are Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) approved.

Both single-skin and AS35 panels are manufactured in a quality process certified to ISO 9001:2008 and available in a wide variety of colours. They can be used to form roofs down to four-degree pitch (six-degree if roof lights are required) and walls. The panels are complemented by a comprehensive range of ancillary systems, including rain water goods, spacers, fixings, sealants, and roof lights.
