NOTTS SPORT’S NEW PRACTICE AREA WINS HIGH PRAISE AT LEICESTERSHIRE CCC!

Notts Sport, the world’s leading supplier of synthetic cricket surfacing systems, has recently resurfaced Leicestershire County Cricket Club’s indoor training facilities to provide a bespoke solution that’s been a winner with players and coaches alike.

The work has seen the three-lane practice area in the Mike Turner Cricket Centre at Grace Road transformed, with the former synthetic carpet – which had been laid over concrete – removed and replaced with NottsTurf Indoor top surface installed over NottsPad Indoor shockpad base for enhanced performance.

The Notts Sport facility provides a much more consistent and realistic performance in terms of bounce and pace – that’s according to those who’ve used it, from youngsters through to the pros.

Lewis Hill, Leicestershire wicketkeeper and batsman, says: “It’s been fantastic. It is key for us as professional sportsmen to practise on a quality wicket and this is certainly a quality facility to use.

“It’s definitely more realistic, the bounce is consistent and there’s a bit of spin for spinners which keeps them interested. It’s just a great practice facility to use. It goes very close to an outdoor wicket which is what you want.”

Keith Piper, elite development coach, adds: “It makes batting, bowling and fielding a lot easier. The previous surface was quite uneven and players didn’t want to bat in here, but with this new surface from Notts Sport everyone wants to now! The shockpad underneath makes it so much more realistic in terms of bounce and pace.”

Leicestershire’s chief executive Wasim Khan says: “Introducing cutting-edge training facilities like this is an important part of our club’s ethos. Providing players with a more authentic surface to practise on gives them a huge boost, whether they’re established first-team professionals or youth players developing their skills.”

The facility is also popular with children, who use the centre during weekends.

Indoor school manager Dips Patel says: “It’s been brilliant. At the weekend we have over 100 kids coming in the centre each day. The surface has been great. They’ve really enjoyed it.”

As well as installing the new practice facility at Leicestershire CCC, Notts Sport is also sponsoring club captain Mark Cosgrove and has joined the 1879 Club to provide further support.

Shaun Patrick, Chairman of Notts Sport, says: “As a Leicestershire – based company, we are proud to be supporters of Leicestershire CCC at this exciting time in the club’s history.

“The new indoor facility which we have installed at the Mike Turner Cricket Centre will help cricketers of all ages and abilities practise their game for years to come, and we’re delighted it is proving so popular with both players and coaches.”

Notts Sport’s Design & Advisory Service sets its surfacing solutions even further apart from other artificial pitch providers, by creating tailor-made facilities in line with individual requirements.

The components of Notts Sport’s cricket pitch systems are selected to provide truly bespoke systems, designed to fine-tune pitch characteristics to agreed pace, performance, maintenance and lifespan criteria to suit the intended user group.

Notts Sport offers free condition checks for any existing artificial turf cricket facilities and its first-rate systems can be designed as pitch refurbishments or new installations.
