NVELOPE CLADS BREEAM EXCELLENT OFFICE

NVELOPE, the rainscreen cladding specialist has supplied its NV1 system to a recently built BREEAM Excellent rated office in Aberdeen. The vertical cladding support system has been applied to the five storey bespoke building, supporting approximately 3000 square metres of granite cladding.

The 40,000 sq ft office space is part of the regeneration of the North Dee Business Quarter and is now home to North Sea operating company, GDF Suez E&P UK ltd.  The company was split across three sites in Aberdeen, Union Plaza, Holburn House and City Wharf, but the new space consolidates all the teams in one location.  The new office is the first building in Aberdeen to achieve BREEAM excellent rating under the 2011 regeneration scheme. BREEAM is an environmental assessment method which sets the standard for best practice in sustainable building design construction and operation. BREEAM encourages designers and architects to think about low carbon and low impact design. GLASSOLUTIONS, the UK’s leading provider of glass and glazing solutions specified NVELOPE’s NV1 system as past experience proved that the product beats its competitors on quality and price.

“The main advantage of working with NVELOPE was the technical support, the product itself and the cost effective price.” says Derek Morgan, of GLASSOLUTIONS. “We have worked with NVELOPE on previous projects and not only do the systems look great, but you get extremely good value for money. The cladding support system was used on the main elevation of the office building and the brackets were installed quickly and easily without any complications. We will definitely be using the NV1 system again on future projects.”

NVELOPE’s NV1 flexible point brackets were well suited for this project as they allow for expansion and contraction of the cladding when under strain from various weather conditions including strong winds. The NV ranges provides a secure fixing solution for façade materials including high pressure laminate (HPL), timber, weatherboard, fibre cement, fibre concrete, ceramic, thin stone, aluminium composite material (ACM) and many other metals. They are available pre-assembled with thermal isolators to help reduce thermal bridging and also prevent a chemical reaction which could occur between the aluminium bracket and the line in a concrete frame.  Stand off sizes for the vertical range are from 40 – 300 mm.

NVELOPE holds extensive stock to ensure orders can always be met and where necessary, immediate delivery can be provided.   All NVELOPE cladding systems can be engineered to project specific requirements thanks to the expertise of its technical design support service. This provides architects and specifiers freedom with an almost infinite range of façade appearance and layout options.

Manufactured in the UK and developed using the highest specification alloys, NVELOPE products and systems are ideal for supporting a wide variety of façade materials.
