Outdoor Living with the Benefits of Indoor Comfort.

Screening is playing an increasingly central role in the management of light and the reduction of thermal gain in building design. In addition to traditional HVAC solutions, the use of screens can vastly improve interior climate and occupant comfort, and reduce environmental impact.

The use of natural forces to provide light, heat and cooling is an important and progressive building approach. Increasing trends for outdoor living coupled with a warming climate are placing additional demands on architects to deliver sustainable and passive design strategies.

Screening has long been acknowledged as critical in improving the energy efficiency of commercial buildings, but the additional practical and aesthetic benefits are now gaining popularity in residential markets.

Phantom Screens are helping homeowners experience existing interior and exterior space in completely new ways; maximising their surroundings and extending the enjoyment of summer evenings without the intrusion of nuisance insects.

The state-of-the-art ‘Executive Screen’ is a fully automated retractable system, capable of screening openings up to 7m wide. It is the perfect solution for the growing trend of bi-folding doors fitted to larger openings on new build projects and on contemporary extensions.

The Executive Screen can be designed to fully recess from view when retracted and low profile retro fix options, finished in any RAL colour, ensure minimal impact on architectural design.

Screening solutions contribute to the reduction of internal temperature and in turn offer savings towards the investment and running costs of HVAC systems. Thermal comfort gains are also made by retaining heat in the evenings while deflecting energy during the day.

A comprehensive range of technical fabrics is available to suit specific requirements – including standard and fine weave insect meshes, solar shading and privacy screens blocking upwards of 55% UV rays.

Phantom solar and insect screens have been adding value to property design in Canada and the USA for many decades. As the sole UK distributor, Phantom Screens manufactures in the UK to the highest quality standards with the same level of attention and consideration that the US market has come to expect. A Lifetime Warranty is offered on all screens, backed up by exceptional care and customer service.

Phantom UK’s customers are shifting the way they think about their living space, redefining the home dynamic that comes from connecting the interior and exterior landscape, something that to date has only been accessible to a minority.

By incorporating screening solutions into the design of new build projects, architects are including the outdoors seamlessly into the sequence of home spaces.
