Richard Burbidge has provided a bespoke FUSION® curved handrail and accompanying stairparts to create a secure and stylish hallway at Trinity House Hub on Mariners’ Park in Wallasey.Merseyside. Since 1882 Mariners’ Park has been providing support for retired mariners and their dependants.

Situated on an idyllic 16-acre site on the banks of the River Mersey, and boasting views of the Liverpool waterfront, the Park provides retirement accommodation and a care home operated by the Nautilus Welfare Fund, a registered Charity.

The latest addition to the Park, an Extra Care Housing scheme, opened in 2014 by The Princess Royal, provides an extra 18 apartments and communal facilities to the 95 existing properties. The new one and two bedroomed apartments, many with balconies overlooking the Mersey, are specially designed to meet the needs of older people and are available to rent by retired mariners and their dependants.

Stairparts specialist Richard Burbidge has supplied its first ever-curved handrail to the new development, as the main point of access for residents. The FUSION® systems creates a visually appealing look and feel, mirroring the curved design of the building, as well as providing a robust and durable structure.

Ian Mackenzie, Specification and Joinery Manager for Richard Burbidge, said: “We are very proud that our FUSION® curved handrail and stairparts have been chosen as a valuable edition to Mariners’ Park.

“Creating a bespoke curved handrail was an interesting and challenging project, but I’m pleased to say we were able to turn this around quickly and efficiently at a more competitive price than many other bespoke systems.”

Eleanor McCallum, from Pozzoni added: “We specified Richard Burbidge stairparts due to the company’s proven track record in successfully supplying products for commercial applications. The products are not only aesthetically pleasing but robust and durable, providing unbeatable quality.”

The residents at from Mariners’ Park have been pleased with the finished handrail, with Mick Howarth, from the Park saying: “We are delighted with the curved handrail and accompanying stairparts by Richard Burbidge. The FUSION range gives the entrance a light and modern appearance, which not only compliments the interior design, but also provides a robust and durable hallway for the residents for years to come.”
