Terrys Fabrics launch Window Planner App that uses augmented reality to visualise products within your own home

Home furnishings brand Terrys Fabrics have launched an innovative app which gives buyers the opportunity to virtually see desired blinds within their own home. By offering over 2,000 variations of patterns and colours within the app, customers are given the chance to judge for themselves how their chosen styles fit amongst their current home decor before purchase.

Terrys Fabrics Window Planner, which uses innovative image technology to display products, launches on 1st August. The free app, which is currently available to download through the iOS app store, allows buyers to input window measurements and preferences between Roman or Roller blinds, before comparing the styles against their existing décor.

Not only does use of the app eliminate the problem of attempting to visualise how prospective interiors will look within the home, it also allows customers to virtually test as many colours and styles of blinds as they desire within their current interiors, saving both time and potential expense on samples.

The brand believes that redecorating should be a fun and creative process, and this new technology has been implemented to provide an additional service for the customer, as a much more effective visualisation process than those currently available through traditional shopping experiences. The team also believe that customer satisfaction should benefit from utilising the app, as customers are guaranteed to make the right choice for their space, each and every time they purchase.

How It Works:

  • Simply take a photo of the window and input the window’s measurements.
  • Choose from the wide range of fabrics, colours and patterns to see potential blinds against your window. You can select as many colours and patterns as you wish.
  • The app will then show your chosen blind at your window, showing how this looks in your home with your existing home interior.
  • Once happy with the selection, you will then be directed to checkout to complete your purchase.

Paul McGuiness, Director of Terrys Fabrics says “We believe that the future of home furnishing online depends on creating a unique buying experience, and our goal is to bring ease to the experience and remove any uncertainty from purchasing blinds online. Our app allows users to virtually try blinds in their own home at any time of day, without need for any advisor or sales representative. We’re excited to bring this development to the market and make the first steps in changing the online shopping experience for blinds and curtains.”

For many, a visually appealing home is more important than ever, and the prevalence of stylish and unique interiors is strong within the industry. Terrys Fabrics Window Planner bridges the gap between inspiration and real life and allows customers to play the role of interior designer, by exercising their flair and personal taste before making a purchase.
