WATERSIDE REACH COMPLETED EARLY THANKS TO PERI SOLUTIONS

Waterside Reach, a new residential development in Tonbridge, has been completed ahead of schedule thanks to the help of PERI Ltd. Ranging from five to seven storeys, the two residential apartments were completed three weeks ahead of schedule after the development’s contractors, Modebest, called upon PERI, the world’s largest provider and manufacturer of formwork and scaffolding systems, to deliver its formwork solutions.

PERI’s team of experts recommended that jump form construction should be adopted for the cores of the construction site. PERI supplied its CBC climbing system and TRIO formwork system to jump the cores ahead of the construction of the floors to increase speed and efficiency.

Completing the large cores ahead of the slabs – removing them from the critical path of the programme – was an efficient step for the construction. This decision was made in conjunction with the selection of PERI’s SKYDECK formwork system, which was able to be cycled through the large scale building quickly and efficiently.

A lightweight system allowing easy manoeuvrability around the site, SKYDECK Allows for minimal crane use and has a fast turnaround due to the early striking of the drophead panels and beams, meaning panels can be reused quickly. This time-saving solution meant that the team on-site were able to erect equipment securely and adapt systems to keep up with the accelerated timescale.

PERI also supplied its PERI UP access towers to fit into the lift shafts. PERI UP is a highly flexible system designed to fit into the smallest of spaces and allows bays to be completely closed. The use of PERI UP at Waterside Reach allowed the precast stairs to be fitted into the stair shaft meaning access to the climbing core formwork above was still available.

Collaboration with Modebest resulted in the project being completed ahead of schedule. The first set of apartments were completed on time, despite being three weeks behind before PERI supplied its formwork, while the second block of apartments were completed three weeks early.

Tony Lyons, Contracts Manager at Modebest, said: “The collaboration with PERI was extremely successful and we were delighted to complete the project ahead of schedule. The use of PERI equipment allowed a seamless project and the expertise and vision from the PERI team meant we received the most efficient use of formwork systems.”

Stuart Robinson, Senior Sales Engineer at PERI, said: “The Waterside Reach project was challenging due to the scale of the building and its large cores. We decided that the most efficient use of our product range would be to jump the cores ahead of the floors, which utilised our CBC climbing system and TRIO equipment, showing the capabilities of PERI equipment.”
