Welsh Coastal Hotel Relies On Armstrong Service To Keep Its Laundry Running

The beautiful Trefeddian Hotel at Aberdovey in Wales has a very apt slogan ‘Where the Mountains meets the Sea’.  Set on the coast some 30 miles north of Aberystwyth it is, by any standards, remote.  It has 59 rooms offering either views of the hills or the sea, three self-catering units and a recently refurbished swimming pool and spa.  With endless local activities including golf, cycling and rambling it is busy all through the year.

William Moeran, the hotel’s general manager, has been dealing with Armstrong Commercial Laundry Systems for many years, and he says of the company, “The main reason we deal with Armstrong is that the after sales service is at least as good as their advice on new equipment, and the equipment itself.  Being so remote, if we need a spare part or if something isn’t working quite right, getting an engineer here quickly can be a problem.  But with Armstrong, our own maintenance people can get on the phone to their technical team who will talk them through exactly what to look for and what to do, and if a spare part is needed it will arrive in the post next day!”

Last year Armstrong supplied two new Speed Queen 2 x 30lb stacked tumble dryers to replace equipment that was some 17 years old.  These dryers make the best use of available space which, in this case, isn’t much!  The hotel also has four washer extractors also supplied by Armstrong including three Huebsch LWZ17, the most recent of which was installed in 2012, and a Unimac UC30M9 installed this year.

The Trefeddian laundry handles all the towels from both the bedrooms and the pool and leisure area, and also all the kitchen items.  It is operated by a full time member of staff, with relief from the housekeeping staff on days off.  “The machines are in use seven days a week and at least seven hours a day”, Mr Moeran told us.
