Corten Feature to incorporate a log burning stove was manufactured as a single piece. the feature was fabricated and distressed before it could be installed. The process of manufacturing the patina sufficient for an interior living room was a skilled process, there was no time to leave the feature for six months to allow the rust process to mature naturally.Corten is only available in hot rolled sheet and has a carbon deposit on the surface. And the process of welding and grinding doesn’t allow the surface to rust quickly, so the feature had to be shot blasted which removed the scale and removed the grinding marks.
